Soybean Processing Introduction

As for the soybean processing industry chain, the mainstream processing technologies in the world are as follows:

(1) Physical Pressing ( Screw Oil Press):

Soybean – Pretreatment (Cleaning, Crushing, Softening, Flaking, Cooking) – Pressing (by Oil Press)- Refining

In this process, soybean oil and soybean cake are obtained by physical pressing (Screw Oil Press)

Products: Soybean cake, soybean oil

Advantages: Small investment, small footprint

Disadvantages: high production cost, low yield of oil (generally, soybean cake after pressing will contain soybean oil of more than 8%)

Suitable for soybean processing with small tonnage

(2) Solvent Extraction&High temperature desolventizing: Soybean:

Soybean- Pretreatment (Cleaning, Drying and Conditioning, Crushing, Softening, Flaking, Extrudingn, Cooling) – Solvent Extraction&High Temperature Desolventization (DTDC) – Refining

In this process, soybean meal and soybean oil are obtained by solvent extraction. In the solvent extraction process, the wet meal after extraction is desolvated by the Desolventizer Toaster Dryer Cooler (DTDC). Therefore, the soybean meal obtained by this process is also called high-temperature meal, which could be used for animal feed processing.

Products: soybean meal (high-temperature meal), soybean oil

Advantages: high yield of soybean oil (residual oil in soybean meal can be controlled within 1%), low production cost

Disadvantages: the investment is high, the extraction workshop is explosion-proof, and safety issues need to be paid attention to

(3) Solvent Extraction&Low temperature desolventizing:

Soybean – Pretreatment (Cleaning, Drying and Conditioning, Crushing, Softening, Flaking) – Solvent Extraction&Low Temperature Desolventization (AB Tank System) – Refining

The process also uses solvent extraction method to make oil to obtain soybean low-temperature meal (soybean white flake) and soybean oil. In the solvent extraction process, the extracted wet meal is desolvated at low temperature using the Tank AB tank system. Therefore, the soybean meal obtained by this process is also called low-temperature meal or soybean white, which has a high NSI and could be used to produce soybean protein concentrate (SPC) and soybean protein isolate (SPI). There are no pros and cons between the two processes(2) and (3). Because the products obtained by the two processes are different, (2) the high-temperature meal (desolved by DTDC) is obtained, which is mainly used in the feed industry, and (3) the low-temperature soybean meal (desolved by Tank AB System ) is obtained, which is mainly used in the food industry.

(4) Using soybean low-temperature meal (Soybean White Flake) to continue deep processing to produce soybean protein concentrate or soybean protein isolate:

There are two kinds of soybean protein concentrate: food grade and feed grade, and soybean protein isolate is only used for food production. If you are interested in the soybean protein field, we could continue to communicate in detail later.
